Job Summary
We are seeking a talented professional to join our team and conduct in-depth ethnographic research that will shape the future of our product and service experiences. This role combines the art of human-centered design with rigorous qualitative research methodologies to uncover deep insights about user behaviors, needs, and cultural contexts. You will immerse yourself in the lives of our customers, observing and documenting their experiences to inform strategic design decisions. Working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams including product managers, designers, and engineers, you will translate complex human behaviors into actionable insights that drive innovation. This position requires someone who is equally comfortable conducting fieldwork in diverse environments as they are synthesizing findings into compelling narratives that inspire organizational change. Your work will directly influence how we design products and services that meaningfully connect with people’s lives.
Responsibilities
Plan and conduct ethnographic field studies including contextual inquiries, in‑home visits, and observational research
Design and execute qualitative research studies using various methodologies such as interviews, diary studies, and participatory design sessions
Analyze qualitative data to identify patterns, themes, and insights about user behaviors and needs
Create compelling research deliverables including journey maps, personas, opportunity frameworks, and insight reports
Collaborate with design and product teams to translate research findings into actionable design recommendations
Present research insights to stakeholders at various levels of the organization
Advocate for user needs throughout the product development lifecycle
Build and maintain research repositories and knowledge management systems
Recruit and screen research participants that represent diverse user populations
Develop research protocols and discussion guides that elicit rich, meaningful data
Skills
Expert knowledge of ethnographic research methods and qualitative analysis techniques
Strong ability to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable insights
Excellent observational skills with attention to detail and cultural sensitivity
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with ability to craft compelling narratives
Proficiency in creating visual research deliverables and storytelling artifacts
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams
Critical thinking and problem‑solving abilities
Empathy and genuine curiosity about human behavior
Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic research environments
Time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Experience
5+ years of experience conducting ethnographic or qualitative user research
Previous experience working in product design, user experience, or related fields
Demonstrated experience presenting research findings to executive stakeholders
Background working in fast‑paced, technology‑driven environments
Qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Anthropology, Sociology, Human‑Computer Interaction, Design Research, or related field
Bachelor’s degree with significant professional research experience may be considered

Pay Range*: $75- $85 per hour
