Brief Description The Web Developer is primarily responsible for the technical execution, user experience, and ongoing optimization of Mazzella’s digital storefronts. Reporting to the Director of Ecommerce, this role serves as the technical lead for the front‑end customer journey, ensuring high performance, accessibility, and conversion‑driven design. A critical near‑term focus is supporting the cross‑functional team in evaluating and selecting a new e‑commerce platform (Shopify, BigCommerce, or WooCommerce) for migration by the end of 2026. While a third‑party agency will lead the initial platform implementation, this role will provide expert technical guidance during the transition and take full ownership of maintaining and improving the storefront post‑launch. Additionally, this role provides essential technical support for Mazzella’s corporate WordPress sites and Intranet (SharePoint). Key Responsibilities Ecommerce Platform Strategy & Maintenance Platform Migration Support: Act as the internal technical subject matter expert during the evaluation and selection of a new e‑commerce platform. Provide input on technical requirements, API capabilities, and long‑term maintainability. Post-Launch Ownership: Following the implementation of the new platform by a third‑party agency, take ownership of the front‑end environment to perform ongoing enhancements, feature updates, and UI/UX iterations. Performance & Conversion: Optimize the storefront for Core Web Vitals, SEO, and maximum loading speed. Use analytics and user feedback to iterate on designs and improve conversion rates (CRO). Third-Party Integrations: Support the integration and maintenance of third‑party apps, APIs, and ERP system connections to ensure a seamless data flow and customer experience. Accessibility & Compliance: Ensure all digital storefronts meet WCAG accessibility standards and maintain cross-browser compatibility. WordPress & Corporate Web Support Site Health & Security: Proactively manage the WordPress ecosystem by executing regular module, plugin, and theme updates. Ensure all security patches are applied promptly to mitigate vulnerabilities. Corporate Site Maintenance: Support the Marketing department by maintaining existing custom WordPress themes for corporate and brand-specific websites. Intranet Management: Develop and maintain intranet pages to ensure a high-quality user experience for internal team members. Content Support: Collaborate with Marketing to update web content, product assets, and promotional banners across non‑ecommerce properties. Technical Execution & Collaboration Front-End Development: Write semantic HTML, maintainable CSS (Flexbox/Grid), and modern JavaScript (ES6+). Experience with frameworks like React is highly preferred. Stakeholder Communication: Establish requirements and timelines for web initiatives. Communicate technical constraints and opportunities clearly to non-technical stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and IT. Analytics Monitoring: Monitor site performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, HubSpot, and SEMrush to drive data-informed improvements. Other duties, as assigned. Required Qualifications Experience: 3–5 years of professional experience in front-end web development, with a heavy emphasis on e‑commerce environments. Technical Stack: Expert knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+). Proficiency in WordPress management is required. Maintenance Skills: Demonstrated experience in managing web security, including performing regular updates to modules, plugins, and core CMS components. E-commerce Fundamentals: Strong understanding of SEO best practices, conversion rate optimization, and accessibility standards (WCAG). Soft Skills: Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. Preferred Qualifications Platform Knowledge: Familiarity with the architecture of WordPress, Shopify Plus, BigCommerce Enterprise, or WooCommerce. Design Tools: Experience working within design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite to translate designs into functional code. Advanced Tech: Experience with version control (Git) and familiarity with API integrations (REST/GraphQL).
