Job Description:

The video journalist brings the stories of the Appalachia + Mid-South Newsroom to life through creative, compelling video content. Working closely with the audience editor, editorial leaders, and reporters across the region, this role creates short-form video that complements the collaboration's audio and written journalism.

This journalist is one of the public faces of AMSN's digital presence, creating video for platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube while helping reporters across the region grow their own visual storytelling skills. This position may require regional travel, so reliable transportation is necessary. This is grant funded position. Continuation is dependent upon funding/need.

Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and best practices for video storytelling.
  • Excellent news judgment and visual storytelling instincts.
  • Understanding of journalism ethics, accuracy, and standards.
  • Comfort and skill appearing on camera.
Additional Information:

Salary: $54,660
