Job Description:
The Cybersecurity Specialist position will work closely with technicians and systems administrators to advise and review secure configurations to ensure the integrity and security of all College systems and data. This position is directly accountable to the Information Security Compliance Officer for the following duties and responsibilities:

The Cybersecurity Specialist position will work closely with technicians and systems administrators to advise and review secure configurations to ensure the integrity and security of all College systems and data. This position is directly accountable to the Information Security Compliance Officer for the following duties and responsibilities:
- Monitor all technology resources for vulnerabilities and perform remediation when necessary.
- Monitor security infrastructure and respond to security alerts, incidents, and threats across enterprise systems.
- Manage the College enterprise anti-virus application suite to prevent, detect, and remediate incidents.
- Monitor and respond to reports of compromised user accounts and suspicious email activity.
- Perform proactive threat hunting to identify security threats and anomalous activity.
- Manage data loss prevention (DLP) policies and monitor for insider risk and data exfiltration attempts.
- Provide user training on cyber hygiene best practices and develop and operate security awareness training platform.
- Assist in maintaining compliance by implementing technical controls and documenting security practices for applicable regulations and frameworks.
- May require occasional after-hours monitoring to inform the designated incident responder of critical alerts.
- Perform and assist with application risk assessments.
- Coordinate with vendors for security tool support, implementation, and technical escalations.
- Evaluate and execute system access requests and removals.
- Assist in operational security audits by maintaining and providing records of data access levels and logs.
- Write and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
- As a part of the college's risk management program, annual mandatory compliance training is required.
- Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security best practices through research and professional development.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Chief Information Officer.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.
- Minimum of four (4) years of documented relevant work experience in Information Technology support, systems administration, or security operations required.
- Knowledge of IP networking, firewall technologies, and principles of least privilege required.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communications required.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting knowledge preferred.
- Experience with creating monitoring system rules and configurations preferred.
- Experience with cloud application security and Role-Based Access Control preferred.
- Experience with Identity and Access Management solutions preferred.
- Experience working in a higher education environment strongly preferred
