Job Summary/Description:
WDBJ in Roanoke is seeking a dynamic daytime anchor for our morning and midday newscasts. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with producers and co-anchors to deliver clean, compelling, and consistent broadcasts while developing story ideas and contributing to digital and streaming platforms.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Anchor morning and midday newscasts
Help develop ideas and concepts for streaming opportunities and digital coverage
Work closely with co-anchors and producers to ensure story selection and quality of broadcast are clean, compelling, and consistent
Demonstrate ability to connect with viewers and the community both on and off the desk
Generate story/segment ideas
Contribute content to digital platforms as assigned
Build local contacts and relationships
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) years of anchoring and reporting experience in a commercial newsroom
Proficiency in non-linear editing systems
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or a related field preferred. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proof of insurability
An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
