Job Summary/Description 14 News seeks a strong candidate to co‑anchor our weekday morning newscast. We need an aggressive anchor who is passionate about covering local news and weather, an energetic “morning person” who can give viewers something to look forward to. The role requires solo‑anchoring for several hours, involvement in newsroom operations, content creation for streaming platforms, and proactive idea generation for editorial meetings. Duties/Responsibilities Anchor at least 2.5 hours of news a day and consistent streaming hits as assigned. Serve in a leadership role, assisting in overnight editorial decisions. Collaborate with show producers to acquire, treat, and write news content. Research, gather, write, and edit news stories for on‑air and online. Write in a clear, concise, conversational manner. Possess excellent interview and conversational writing/presentation skills. Report “live” on the scene during breaking news or weather. Report on special projects as assigned. Develop and maintain sources of information. Demonstrate sound news judgment. Mentor other team members. Utilize non‑linear editing equipment. Participate in story selection meetings. Attend, host, or speak at schools and community events. Post and regularly update stories and other material on the web and social media. Occasionally shoot stories for newscasts. Follow clothing and appearance guidelines set by news management. Learn a broad and working knowledge of the viewing area, including people, places, things, and history. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure. Maintain professional and ethical conduct in the station and in the community. Maintain a positive work atmosphere. Stay current with national and local news and weather. Qualifications/Requirements 2–3 years of experience as a television anchor. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field is preferred. Experience with ENPS and Edius editing is a plus. Ability to shoot and edit videos, write scripts, and effectively communicate live on‑air. Present information in a fair, unbiased manner.
