The starting salary for this position will be in the $90k - $95k range.

Overview
The Yale Alumni Magazine (YAM) is a key publication of Yale University, bringing news and information to members of the alumni community. Reporting to the YAM Editor with a dual report to the division Operations Manager, the YAM Financial Analyst provides comprehensive financial and business support, serves as liaison to the division business office, and oversees operations for the department.
Essential Duties
1. Provides technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance. Organizes information from a variety of sources for use in analyzing future plans and forecasts. Collaborates with all levels of management, both internally and externally, to gather, analyze, summarize, prepare, and present recommendations regarding financial plans and other complex financial matters. Researches and evaluates information to resolve issues and makes recommendations. Develops and/or executes complex financial models.
2. Analyzes and synthesizes information and designs and creates accurate and timely reports. Designs financial reporting to meet the compliance needs of internal and external users. Extracts and consolidates data from multiple sources.
3. Contributes to the planning and improvement of practices, processes and systems. Collaborates with all levels of internal and external contacts to carry out department goals. Provides a high level of service that cultivates and maintains strong working relationships and communicates effectively; takes ownership and accountability for timeliness, accuracy and relationship management.
4. Translates department finance goals into objectives. Identifies and raises potential financial opportunities, issues, risks, ideas and solutions. Identifies the appropriate stakeholders to include in consultations, communications, approvals or buy-ins for designing and implementing changes.
5. Establishes, implements and/or maintains strong internal controls in areas of assigned responsibility to provide reasonable assurance of effective and appropriate resource use, accurate financial information, and adherence to contractual obligations and agreements, policies, procedures, and external regulatory requirements.
6. May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet multiple, competing responsibilities. Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and deadlines with exceptional attention to detail and highest level of accuracy. Able to self-correct work.
2. Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
3. Financial/accounting experience. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly.
4. High level of comfort with technology. Proficiency in accounting software, data management, Excel and Word, email. Demonstrated ability to learn new interfaces and systems.
5. Ability to contribute as part of a team devoted to maintaining a high level of service. Demonstrated willingness to absorb incidental responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Proficiency with Yale administrative and financial systems, including Workday.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and a minimum of two years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
