News Producer

Scripps CBS station in Omaha, Nebraska is looking for a News Producer to share stories from the Heartland of the country. This News Producer will create and organize content for multiple platforms utilizing editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills. Join our team and help deliver the news that matters most to our community!

What You'll Do:

1. Develop and organize newscasts or local programs.
2. Write story development and showcasing.
3. Collaborate with reporters, anchors, news managers and assignment editors to determine content needs.
4. Enhance content with graphics, video, research, and station branding.
5. Execute time sensitive decisions.
6. Oversee live broadcast and up to the minute editorial decisions.
7. Perform desktop editing.
8. Post content to station's Web sites.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience
• Generally, 2+ years of experience in related field preferred

• Working knowledge of journalistic ethics and libel laws and strong editorial judgement
• Able to use web analytics
• Proficient with newsroom computer systems, MS Office a plus
• Flexible work hours may be required, including holidays, weekends and evenings
