Job Summary
The Radio Technician - Journeyman is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex wireless and two-way communication systems supporting commercial and public safety environments. This role works under general supervision and does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Job Summary
The Radio Technician - Journeyman is responsible for the installation, programming, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex wireless and two-way communication systems supporting commercial and public safety environments. This role works under general supervision and does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain wireless communication equipment including dispatch consoles, trunked radio systems, paging infrastructure, mobile radios, and base stations.
- Perform system programming, testing, and installations according to manufacturer and industry standards.
- Conduct diagnostic testing using RF and communications test equipment and interpret results to determine corrective actions.
- Provide technical customer support in person, by phone, or electronically.
- Prepare service quotes, repair estimates, and project bids.
- Coordinate repair timelines, service schedules, and project deadlines with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate service records, job tickets, and time reporting.
- Support safety initiatives and comply with company safety procedures.
- Operate company vehicles safely and report maintenance or incidents promptly.
- 3-5 years of experience working with two-way radio or wireless communication systems.
- Experience troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and programming radios, transmitters, receivers, antennas, and communications systems.
- Working knowledge of RF theory, AC/DC electronics, and mobile installations.
- Experience with dispatch consoles, paging systems, and trunked radio systems.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
- Associate degree or technical training in electronics, telecommunications, or related field.
- FCC, FICA, NARTE, CET.
- NABER certification.
- Experience supporting public safety communications systems.
- RF test equipment including service monitors, watt meters, VOMs, and related diagnostic tools.
- Use of hand tools, installation equipment, and ladder work at elevated heights.
- Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications and communications programming software.
- Ability to lift equipment up to approximately 100 lbs occasionally with assistance as needed.
- Ability to climb ladders or towers and work at heights.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors, including exposure to weather conditions, equipment vibration, and job-site hazards.
- May require background clearance for secure customer locations.
