Engineering Technical Writer

Job Description

Join our dynamic Integrated Product Team (IPT) as an Engineering Technical Writer. In this role, you will write, rewrite, and edit technical publications related to the operation and maintenance of sensors and systems. You will gather and compile information from various sources, including contractual and engineering documentation, to develop comprehensive technical publications that adhere to military specifications and standards. Your work will include creating documentation on hardware description, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and parts information for a diverse audience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and publish technical publications in various formats, including page-based, electronic, and structured formats such as HTML, XML, and SGML.

  • Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to create detailed sensor/system technical publications.

  • Conduct quality reviews of technical publications to ensure compliance with military specifications and standards.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related field, or a minimum of 7 years' experience in military operations and maintenance with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks, and information technology-based sensors/systems.

  • U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Possession and maintenance of a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.

  • Willingness to perform physically demanding tasks in various environmental conditions.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.

  • Over 10 years of engineering writing experience is preferred.

  • Willingness to obtain a higher-level clearance if required.

  • Experience or certification as a military instructor is preferred.

Work Environment

The position is based in a large, cleared manufacturing facility located in Linthicum, MD. The group, known as Technical Data & Training, operates within the Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) department. The work environment is collaborative, supporting the development of Radar Systems/Antennas for Airborne and Ground-Based applications.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Linthicum Heights, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $55.00/hr.
