We are looking for a contract Apparel Designer to join our design and development team for a 6-month contract with potential extension or full-time opportunity. This role will support the design and development team during a key product cycle, working across the full apparel development process from concept and technical design through production readiness, translating ideas into high-quality, production-ready garments. $32–$45 per hour, depending on experience Schedule:
Approximately 40 hours per week, M-F Location:
Onsite in Eagan, MN for Twin Cities-area candidates. Remote candidates outside Minnesota will also be considered. What You'll Work On
This role is ideal for a designer who can plug into an existing workflow quickly, collaborate cross-functionally, and execute both creative and technical design work with strong attention to detail. You’ll help shape products that balance performance, sustainability, and thoughtful design, supporting both Storm Creek collections and private label programs. Design men's and women's lifestyle apparel from concept through production approval Research market trends, fabrics, trims, and sustainable materials Contribute to seasonal assortment planning and design concepts Create detailed technical sketches and production-ready tech packs Support fittings, fabric approvals, and development submissions Partner with product development and sourcing teams to ensure designs translate to production Development & Quality
Manage development tasks and milestones within the product calendar Track revisions, samples, and approvals through development stages Maintain strong communication with internal teams and factory partners Product Standards & Data
Ensure products meet Storm Creek standards for fit, function, branding, and sustainability Review fit comments, QA issues, and production feedback Maintain consistency across trims, labeling, packaging, and styling Private Label & Design Systems
Translate customer concepts into executable apparel designs Collaborate with sales and product teams on custom product programs Manage revisions and approvals with customers and factory partners Maintain product information and development data in PLM and internal systems Keep tech packs, specs, and approvals organized and accurate Track updates throughout the development lifecycle Skills & Experience
Degree in Apparel Design or equivalent experience Experience designing lifestyle or outdoor-inspired apparel preferred 5+ years of experience designing men’s and/or women’s apparel Strong understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fit Experience designing through complete product development cycles Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Creative Suite Experience with PLM systems (Centric or similar) Ability to communicate clearly with internal teams and overseas factories Strong organization and attention to detail across multiple projects CLO / 3D design experience is a plus Why Designers Enjoy Working With Storm Creek
