We are seeking an experienced
Assistant Controller
to support the financial operations of a growing organization focused on multifamily development and construction. This role will work closely with the Controller and executive leadership to oversee accounting processes, financial reporting, and internal controls. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and has
strong experience in the construction industry , particularly with job costing and project-based accounting. Construction industry experience is required for this role. Candidates without direct construction accounting experience will not be considered. Key Responsibilities
Assist in managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll oversight Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules Maintain and oversee
job cost accounting and project-based financial tracking for construction projects Monitor construction budgets, costs, and variances in coordination with project managers Ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost allocations related to construction activities Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial planning Support audits, tax preparation, and lender reporting requirements Maintain and strengthen internal accounting controls and processes Assist with system improvements and accounting workflow efficiencies Provide financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Required: Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience within the construction industry Strong knowledge of
construction accounting, job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion accounting Experience with real estate development or multifamily construction strongly preferred Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (construction-focused systems preferred) Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred Experience supporting construction project financial management Familiarity with lender reporting, draw processes, and construction financing What We’re Looking For
