Overview
Inside Sales Representative plays an essential role in supporting business growth by delivering high-quality customer service and generating new business opportunities. This entry-level position is responsible for managing a portfolio of customer accounts, offering product information, and providing solutions to meet customer needs. The role requires developing foundational sales skills, strong communication, and an ability to resolve customer inquiries effectively. Communication will be conducted through phone, email, and other digital tools. Inside Sales I team members will work closely with senior sales representatives to gain experience, build relationships with customers, and contribute to the overall success of the team.
Responsibilities
Generate new and repeat sales by providing timely product and technical information.
Perform accurate customer order entry, quotations (price, delivery, and terms), stock checks, order changes and expedites, return authorizations.
Resolve customer questions of product identification, recommendations, and application.
Correspond with suppliers on cost and delivery requests, purchase order placement, order changes and expedites, return authorizations and identifying new supply sources.
Build relationships with various departments to deliver the best possible service to our customers.
Serve as the primary inside sales contact for designated customer accounts.
Work closely with outside sales representatives to provide best possible service to these accounts, including inventory analysis and on-time delivery.
Develop a strong working relationship with the customer/supplier contacts.
Make recommendations to improve customer satisfaction.
Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries received via phone, email, and other communication channels.
Navigate and utilize various supplier and customer portals, as well as the company ERP system (NetSuite), to support customer and operational needs.
Effectively manage customer expectations by providing clear communication, accurate information, and timely follow-up.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
High school degree or equivalent
Technical Certification, College Degree in related field preferred, or Equivalent Experience
Previous experience with computer-based business systems preferred
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Fundamental verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact clearly and courteously.
Basic problem-solving abilities to address routine issues and support customer needs.
Foundational customer service skills with a focus on responsiveness and professionalism.
