We’re looking for someone with hustle, initiative, and real ownership to help strengthen and grow PragerU’s PR efforts. As a mission-driven media organization with more than a decade of impact, we need someone who understands the media landscape, moves quickly, and gets results. The right person is proactive and scrappy. They know how to spot an opportunity, craft a strong pitch, follow up relentlessly, and land meaningful coverage. They’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment, can think clearly under pressure, and work well across teams to make sure our messaging is sharp, consistent, and aligned with our mission.
Duties and Responsibilities Oversee relationship with external PR team and hold them accountable for results
Develop & execute PR/media strategy to increase earned media
Manage and amplify media bookings and communication for all in-house talent
Develop and maintain brand messaging communications on our website and elsewhere - i.e. our ‘About Us’ page, promotional ‘What is PragerU’ type scripts/brochures, and more
Learn, cherish, and honor the brand—help other teams remain ‘on brand’
Help develop brand messaging, brand identity, etc.
Develop and execute PR strategies that expand PragerU’s reach, strengthen our reputation, and advance our mission
Proactively pitch stories, secure media placements, and build relationships with journalists, producers, and influencers
Manage incoming press inquiries and support crisis communications as needed
Support major initiatives, content launches, and cultural moments with coordinated PR outreach
Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Production, Development, and Leadership to align messaging and maximize impact
Manage external PR agencies and partners to ensure strong execution and results
Help plan and execute press events, media appearances, and mission-driven activations
Track media coverage and campaign performance; report insights and recommendations to leadership
Stay current on media trends and proactively identify opportunities to position PragerU in the national conversation
Successful Candidates Will Possess 10+ years of overall experience in PR, communications with a preference for experience in DC and New York markets
STRONG knowledge of how PR works, and a background in branding/integrative marketing
Experience with media relations and outreach/communication with journalists especially ones in mainstream outlets and in education spheres of influence.
We are fast-paced and work best with those who thrive in a start-up environment; the ‘6-month-long big branding agency study’ approach isn’t what we’re looking for
Meticulous writing skills
Creativity—this is not all technical writing
Ability to problem solve with the best of them
Capacity to manage-up, and assist vice president and other executives with what they need to pursue the organization’s mission
Can collaborate with related teams, like social media, to amplify communications work
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with multiple simultaneous projects

Salary Range The salary target for this role is $100,000 - $130,000+. Final offer amounts depend on multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise, and most recent market data. This position is eligible for an annual bonus based on personal and company performance, in addition to our robust benefits package.
