Your job will include many responsibilities, all with the goal of creating a memorable and meaningful camp experience for our campers. As a Summer Camp Director, you will have ownership over your camp programs and enjoy infusing your own creativity and talents into the children’s weekly schedule.**SUPERVISION RECEIVED**Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Coordinators and Youth Program Supervisor**SUPERVISION EXERCISED**Seasonal summer camp group leaders**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES***Serves as an ambassador of the City of Steamboat Springs and upholds City values of Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Well-being, Respect and Compassion, while always espousing safety****.***These duties and responsibilities are to be performed in cooperation with Youth Program Coordinators and Supervisor.
They are subject to change according to the changing demands of the service community.

Duties are currently related to the following programs:## **Summer Camps:*** Manages group leaders, CIT’s, and participants to ensure a safe environment for all campers* Plan and execute daily activities in a safe, age-appropriate environment.* Primary contact with venders and business partners to ensure streamlined access to activities* Works as general staff member in seasonal programs, present during operations of scheduled program hours, including nights and weekends* Help to enforce any and all rules and guidelines for programs.* Serve as liaison between program participants (i.e. venders/families) and Recreation Division.
Respond to public inquiries by phone, email, text, and other means as required* Maintain the inventory and physical quality, cleanliness and safety of any program supplies, facilities, equipment, tools, food, and vehicles.
Communicates needs with Rec Coordinators* Performs seasonal staff evaluations in conjunction with Rec Coordinators* Coordinates summer staff training alongside Rec Coordinators, helps maintain all records to meet state licensing requirements* Works closely with the Behavioral Specialist and Therapeutic Recreation staff to ensure quality of care for children with behavioral, cognitive, or physical challenges and/or disabilities.**General Operations*** Maintain personal trainings and certifications as required by the state.* Perform other related duties as assigned.**PERIPHERAL DUTIES**Attend staff meetings and trainings, divisional, departmental, and organizationalAssumes the responsibilities of the Program Coordinator or Director in his/her absence.**DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**Education and Experience:* A degree in Parks & Recreation, Education, or Human Services preferred* School Age Director Qualified* Must be 20 years or older* Minimum of 960 (six months) experienceNecessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must have a passion for working with children
Knowledge of recreation philosophy, planning and administration; Knowledge of the equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation programs;
Willing and able to drive a 15 passenger van with participants and staff,
Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in camp activities which may include running, swimming, hiking, lifting, team building initiatives, physical games, and creative programs;
Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment;
Ability to work in a variety of climates, indoor and outdoor, and may include
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors, community leaders, and the general public;
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
General knowledge of State of Colorado licensing rules and regulation, Colorado Department of Health and the Environment rules and regulation.**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**Valid state driver's license if applicableFirst Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtainMust pass criminal CBI, FBI, Motor Vehicle, and Dept. of Human Services background checkAbility to obtain all certifications as required by the State of Colorado Dept. of Early Learning**TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED**Personal computer, including word processing and data base software; calculator; copy machine; phone; mobile or portable radio; automobile; pick-up truck, 15 passenger van (as applicable)**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
