Position Summary
The Associate Director of Belonging, Equity, and Impact is a leadership position designed to strengthen and expand the school’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and community engagement. This role will deepen the integration of equity and inclusion practices across the school while advancing the growth and impact of the Horizons program at Rowland Hall. Primary Job Responsibilities
Working in close partnership with the Director of Equity and Inclusion and the Director of Community Engagement and Impact, the Associate Director will dedicate approximately half of their time to the following priorities: Equity, Inclusion, and Student Leadership Develop cohesive, long-term student leadership programming that cultivates the skills of empathetic, ethical, and engaged citizenship in collaboration with divisional leaders and community partners. Support the expansion of the Center for Community Impact , particularly student-centered initiatives such as Impact Summits, community breakfasts, speaker series, and grade-level engagement projects. Teach a semester-long Leadership and Engagement Capstone course for 11th- and 12th-grade students. Strengthen the student affinity group program and facilitate lessons on identity, bias, stereotypes, and upstander strategies for all Middle and Upper School students Supervise student affinity groups and the student JEDI Committee. Organize community gatherings that build leadership capacity, showcase curricular connections, and celebrate impactful contributions across the school. Design and implement cross-divisional peer mentoring and engagement programs, particularly as the school transitions to a unified campus, and create mentorship pathways that include alumni, Board members, and community partners. Collaborate with parent/caregiver and faculty/staff affinity group leaders to enhance and align programming. Partner with the marketing and communications team to share stories of impact and amplify the visibility of equity and inclusion initiatives. Support day-to-day operations of the office and team, including resource development, logistics and event planning, and communications. Horizons at Rowland Hall The Associate Director will dedicate the remaining half of their time to advancing the Horizons at Rowland Hall program’s mission of educational access and enrichment by: Designing and implementing Super Saturday programming for Horizons students and families. Assisting with fundraising and partnership development to sustain and expand programmatic impact. Overseeing year-long tutoring programs, managing transportation, and related logistics. Collecting and analyzing program data to prepare impact reports for internal and external stakeholders. Partnering with SummerWorks staff to align space and program needs. Supporting Horizons Program Coordinator and Site Directors in all aspects of program management, including events, marketing, family engagement, registration, and staffing. Skills and Requirements
3-5 years of experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion or student leadership development related role, especially student support, program development, and creation of educational resources strongly preferred Strong knowledge of scholarship related to diversity, equity, and inclusion as well as leadership development and educational access Research skills, including the ability to identify appropriate sources and generate accessible resources for community members Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners Experience presenting/facilitating education programming to audiences of students, faculty, and parents in small and large group settings Strong familiarity with design tools, such as Canva and Google Suite, to create engaging documents and materials Organizational skills, including detailed note-taking, collating documents, and managing multiple projects at once Flexibility and open-mindedness are required for a fast-paced school environment An understanding of the developmental needs of students and enthusiasm for working closely with all of our students and families High emotional intelligence, empathy, energy, creativity, flexibility, discretion, and patience The requirements listed below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
