Licensed Customs Broker Position
Freight forwarding company located in east El Paso is looking for a Licensed Customs Broker. Responsibilities include: Planning, implementing, and supervising operation plans to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations. Responding to deviations of the process, communicating exceptions, and managing resolutions. Ensuring smooth and timely customs process flow as an entry writer. Demonstrating strong customer service skills and excellent attention to detail. Preparing and processing import and customs brokerage files. Verifying arrival notices with airlines, NVOCC's, and steamship lines. Rating commercial invoices with tariff numbers and valuation. Verifying country of origin. Checking if any free trade agreement applies to entry. Performing data entry and transmission to customs. Preparing entry documents for customs approval and duty payment. Preparing delivery orders, sending to truckers, and verifying receipt and final delivery with a POD. Preparing billing packets, filing, and emailing to clients. Ensuring all entries are filed on time and freight delivered in a timely manner in accordance with company and customs expectations. Qualifications include: Minimum of 4-5 years of import brokerage experience. Supervisory experience preferred - 3 years. US Customs Broker's License required. Undergraduate degree with emphasis in Supply Chain, Economics. Pro-active attitude and strong time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Excel. Familiarity with rating freight invoices (buy/sell rates) and communicating with overseas partners. Extremely detail-oriented and well organized. Interest in global economic developments, including free trade agreements and tariff increases. Ability to work in a busy and fast-paced environment. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Pay range: 100K-115K base salary depending on qualifications. There is also a bonus program.
