The Shoong Family Chinese Cultural Center (SFCCC), a 70+ year-old cornerstone nonprofit serving the Bay Area’s Asian American community, seeks a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead the organization into its next chapter of growth and impact.
With an annual operating budget exceeding $1 million and a strong legacy in Chinese language education, cultural programming, and youth development, SFCCC serves more than 500 students weekly. The Center is poised for strategic expansion and seeks an experienced nonprofit leader to strengthen operations, deepen community engagement, and guide long-term sustainability.
Role Description
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will serve as the chief executive and strategic leader of SFCCC. This individual will oversee organizational management, financial stewardship, fundraising strategy, program direction, and community relations.
The successful candidate will combine strong executive presence with operational discipline and a deep passion for cultural education and community development.
Qualifications
- Lead and execute strategic priorities in partnership with the Board.
- Oversee financial management, budgeting, compliance, and operational systems.
- Drive fundraising efforts, including grant strategy and donor cultivation.
- Direct the Center’s day-to-day operations and provide oversight for all organizational programs and activities.
- Provide leadership to educational programs in collaboration with the Head Teacher.
- Represent the Center with city officials, media, community leaders, and institutional partners.
- Strengthen internal operations, staff development, and organizational culture.
Candidate Profile
- 5+ years of nonprofit leadership experience (3+ years in senior management).
- Demonstrated success managing a $1M+ budget.
- Fluency in English and Chinese (Cantonese required).
- Strong financial acumen and operational oversight capability.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Genuine passion for advancing the Asian American community and youth development.
- Experience in educational, cultural, or youth-serving organizations preferred.
Compensation
Salary range: $100,000 – $120,000 (commensurate with experience).
