Overview
Herzog Contracting Corp. is currently seeking Senior Directors - Construction Operations, regionally, in the United States to join our team.
The Senior Director, Construction Operations is a senior operations leader responsible for the overall performance, profitability, risk management, and client satisfaction of a defined portfolio of projects within Herzog National Construction. This role provides executive-level oversight from preconstruction through final completion, ensuring alignment with Herzog’s standards for safety, quality, financial discipline, and culture. The project executive serves as both a strategic leader and an operational authority, accountable for results and responsible for developing high-performing teams.
Duties And Responsibilities

- Perform oversight of multiple concurrent projects (size and complexity to be defined by region).
- Assume full P&L responsibility for assigned portfolio.
- Deliver Executive-level client relationship management.
- Manage risk mitigation and contract governance.
- Provide leadership development and succession planning within project teams.
- Ensure alignment of construction plans with financial targets and operational standards.
- Provide oversight on schedule performance, cost controls, and quality metrics.
- Own portfolio-level forecasting, margin performance, and cost discipline.
- Review and approve major budget adjustments, change orders, and claims strategies.
- Evaluate contractual risk exposure during preconstruction and construction activities.
- Support negotiation strategies for complex changes or disputes.
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as executive sponsor for key client relationships.
- Maintain consistent executive communication with owners, JV partners, and other stakeholders.
- Champion Herzog’s safety-first culture across all assigned projects and reinforce quality standards and lessons‑learned implementation.
- Identify succession bench strength within project teams while mentoring and developing Project Managers and senior field leaders.
- Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position.
- Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12+ years of progressive construction leadership experience required.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong financial acumen and P&L oversight experience.
- Proven ability to lead senior-level project personnel.
- Alternative delivery experience preferred (DB, CMGC, CMAR, PDB).
Pre-Employment Requirements
- Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
- Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
