This position reports directly to the Assistant General Manager.Annual Salary: $130,000.00 to $140,000.00JOB SUMMARYThe Sr. Director, Events is responsible for the overall event management, production and logistical operations of concerts, family shows, private events and sporting events at the Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. This role will manage budget, profitability and client/tenant relationships.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.* Ensure successful event coordination activities by supervising and training Event Managers and Guest Services Managers. Plan, organize and assign all day-to-day work assignments for Events Department personnel including Event Managers and Guest Services Managers.* Direct and supervise all aspects of operations including event coordination and services, event staffing, audio/visual production services, security, crowd and risk management, police, fire and safety personnel, and ADA compliance.* Manage supervisors who oversee employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.* Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements for event services, including union collective bargaining agreements, security, event staffing and other agreements as needed. Review contracts for compliance with event and/or government specifications and suitability for occupancy.* Coordinate with the Box Office regarding technical and production requirements that impact sight lines and/or cause seating obstructions to develop floorplans, seating and event diagrams using AutoCAD drawings for ticketed events.* Serve as Event Manager for top tier/large scale production events at both Oakland Arena and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum.* Compiles and communicates all event requirements to various departments at venue as well as direct and delegate necessary responsibilities.* Partners with Finance Department to prepare cost estimates, invoices for settlement and monitor final billing.* Coordinate and satisfy the requirements of multiple events occurring simultaneously.* Engage in decisions related to crowd management in a prompt and decisive manner during crisis situations.* Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed.**Required Qualifications**To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability required.* A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) (Advanced Degree Preferred)* A minimum of 10+ years of experience in sports or entertainment event production management* Previous supervisory experience in an event capacity including supervising event staff* Previous experience in budget development, tracking and management* Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and ability to learn required business systems* Proficient in CAD software* Knowledge of electrically and manually operated stage and sound equipment and the methods, materials, tools, and practices required for their repair and maintenance* Extensive knowledge of stagehand practices and techniques including IATSE stagehand practices and union contracts is preferred* Knowledge of the occupation hazards and safety precautions of the trade* Ability to read, understand and implement artist riders* Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships* Knowledge of “front of house” patron practices and procedures* Must be extremely organized, detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneouslyLEGENDS GLOBAL reserves the right to change or modify the employee’s job description whether orally or in writing, at any time during the employment relationship.
