
Marketing Intern

Position Summary:
We are seeking a Marketing Intern based in New York City who is excited about sustainability and eager to grow as a thoughtful, disciplined communicator within a mission‑driven organization.
This internship provides hands‑on exposure to marketing within the clean energy and engineering sector, including sustainability communications, technical storytelling, and AI‑assisted content development.
This role is ideal for a rising senior with 1–3 semesters remaining who values structure, takes ownership of their work, and wants to build strong professional habits early in their career.
You do not need prior experience in engineering or energy regulations. What matters most is creativity, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, personal accountability, and a genuine commitment to producing high‑quality work. Writing skills and industry knowledge will strengthen over time. A strong sense of ownership and organization will help you succeed in this role.
Schedule 20 hours/week during the academic semester and up to 40 hours/week during the summer.
Principal Accountabilities Content & Structured Storytelling
Draft internal newsletters
Support company updates and structured content outlines
Contribute ideas for relevant content across social media, blog articles, and newsletters based on company initiatives and industry trends
Translate sustainability initiatives and company updates into clear, audience‑focused messaging
Work within established content frameworks, templates, and brand guidelines
Strengthen first drafts over time by incorporating feedback and improving structure and clarity
Research & Insight Development
Research sustainability trends, environmental initiatives, and industry developments
Summarize complex information into concise, organized briefs with clear takeaways
Support the distillation of dense material into practical insights that matter to our audience
AI & Tool Strategy
Use AI tools to support research, outlining, brainstorming, and drafting
Learn how to guide AI tools effectively with thoughtful prompts
Critically evaluate and refine AI‑generated content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice
Strengthen your ability to apply human judgment when reviewing automated outputs
Marketing Execution
Schedule and manage social media posts across platforms such as LinkedIn, including drafting captions, selecting visuals, and coordinating timelines
Assist with website content updates and uploads under supervision
Maintain organized marketing files, templates, and shared documentation
Support tracking and organizing basic performance metrics across email and social channels
Field Exposure & Internal Collaboration
Photograph site visits and building projects across NYC for marketing use
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams to gather accurate information
Prepare and ask thoughtful questions to clarify details before drafting content
Contribute to a collaborative and organized environment
Technical Qualifications and Other Job Requirements:
Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Sustainability, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Business, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Urban Studies, or a related field, with 1–3 semesters remaining
Based in NYC with the ability to travel throughout the five boroughs
Available for hybrid in‑office collaboration (2–3 days per week during summer)
Strong written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing polished, accurate work
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
Experience with design tools such as Canva preferred
Basic photography and photo editing skills preferred
Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT preferred, with the ability to use them thoughtfully and responsibly
