About Queens County Farm Museum Queens County Farm Museum (QCFM) is one of the longest continuously farmed sites in New York State, dating back to 1697. A designated New York City Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, QCFM welcomes over 500,000 visitors annually. The farm connects people to agriculture, colonial history, and the environment, offering diverse learning opportunities in biodiversity, health and wellness, climate change, and historic preservation.

QCFM’s vibrant 47-acre site includes historic buildings like the Adriance Farmhouse (c.1772) and a Greenhouse (c.1926), alongside growing fields, animal paddocks, composting areas, and an apiary. The farm also operates a year-round Farm Store and seasonal farmstands while hosting acclaimed education programs, public events, and adult education initiatives.

The Opportunity The Digital Marketing Intern will support QCFM’s digital marketing strategy by creating compelling content that promotes the farm’s mission, programs, events, and seasonal activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and motivated individual looking to gain hands‑on experience in nonprofit communications, digital storytelling, and social media management within a fast‑paced, mission‑driven organization.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and scheduling content for QCFM’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Threads, TikTok)

Create and curate photos, videos, graphics, and written content aligned with QCFM’s brand and seasonal calendar

Support coverage of on‑site programs and events through real‑time content capture and post‑event promotion

Monitor engagement and trends; assist in generating insights and recommendations to grow audience reach

Help maintain QCFM’s content library and organize digital assets

Maintain the farm’s digital presence by using and updating tools such as Reposite and Bloomberg Connects.

Assist with community management (responding to comments, DMs, tagging, etc.)

Support the Communications Director with additional outreach and digital marketing tasks as needed

Required Qualifications & Experience QCFM encourages applicants to apply even if they do not meet all of the below qualifications.

Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, Journalism, or a related field

Experience with Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and other major platforms (professional or academic setting)

Strong written communication and visual storytelling skills

Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar content creation tools a plus

Basic photography/video skills and an eye for visual composition

Familiarity with social media scheduling platforms (e.g. Hootsuite, Buffer, Meta Business Suite)

Passion for sustainability, education, public history, or agriculture preferred

Must be reliable, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively

Some weekend or evening availability preferred for event coverage

Experience with Bloomberg Connects a preferred but not necessary
