Overview
Be the welcoming face of the Sue Corbett Active Adult Center! This dynamic role serves as the first point of contact for our vibrant senior community, creating a positive and engaging experience for every visitor. In this fast-paced environment, you will manage front desk operations, answer phones, assist with program registrations, and provide helpful information about center activities and services. Responsibilities
Greets customers as they enter the facility. Provide general information regarding programs and services. Answer the telephone and assist the public, refer calls and visitors to appropriate personnel, and take and refer messages as required. Register participants in classes and other recreational activities, collect fees and provide receipts. Enter and retrieve data using a computer terminal. Prepare routine daily and monthly cash reports, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation of all transactions. Assist staff in contacting participants to notify them of cancellations or postponements when necessary. Perform clerical work including filing, billing, and recording information on records. Maintain the lending closet inventory and assist with check-out/check-in of equipment. Provide backup to the Volunteers of America (VOA) Dining Center program aide. Stay informed about daily, weekly, and monthly activities to assist participants and provide accurate information about programs, events, and services. Direct participants to senior resources in the area. Assume responsibility for the center in the absence of other staff. Promote the aims, policies, procedures, and regulations of the City of Brighton. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Knowledge : English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation; principles and procedures of record keeping; modern office methods and equipment; awareness of aging; city and departmental policies; how to access community resources; budgeting and basic math skills. Abilities : Use strong customer service skills; make sound decisions under stress; communicate effectively in person and by telephone; perform clerical work and maintain records; handle money accurately; operate office equipment including a computer and Microsoft Office; read and interpret instructions on a screen; work flexible hours; demonstrate good written and oral communication; establish cooperative working relationships. Education and Experience
One year of general clerical experience including public contact. Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. Customer service experience required. Understanding and experience with RecTrac software or other recreation software is highly desirable. Cash handling experience is highly desirable. Physical Requirements
Ability to perform moderate physical work, including lifting up to 25 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, and perform similar movements. Coordination to operate office equipment and a computer. Ability to see and read instructions, manuals, and screens. Ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone. Special Requirements
Current certification in CPR and First Aid. Valid Colorado driver’s license with a safe driving record. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to complete FEMA ICS 100 and IS 700 training within six months of hire. Employer
