A tier-one global investment management firm is seeking a highly analytical Associate to join its Institutional Real Estate Credit platform. This role spans the entire investment lifecycle, encompassing both the origination of new debt and the restructuring of distressed credit within the US portfolio. Working within an integrated global framework, the Associate will support senior investment professionals in managing debt restructurings and underwriting new financing opportunities. The role requires a candidate capable of navigating complex capital structures and collaborating across a sophisticated institutional infrastructure, including dedicated legal, tax, and risk management departments. Responsibilities Support the financial modeling and underwriting process for new debt originations, ensuring alignment with the firm’s global credit risk parameters. Support the strategic workout of defaulted or distressed debt positions, evaluating restructuring options to protect institutional capital and optimize recovery. Act as a central point of contact between the investment team and internal institutional partners (Legal, Asset Management, Tax, and Technical teams) to ensure seamless transaction execution. Prepare rigorous, institutional-grade investment memoranda and presentations for the Investment Committee, providing data-driven recommendations on complex credit risks. Oversee the coordination of third-party consultants and external counsel during the diligence process, managing technical, legal, and structural audits. Monitor macroeconomic trends and sector-specific real estate fundamentals to inform the firm’s broader US investment strategy and entry/exit timing. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, or a related field from a top-tier institution. 2–4 years of experience in real estate debt originations, portfolio management, or investment banking at an institutional level. Advanced proficiency in Excel (DCF modeling) and ARGUS Enterprise is required. Must have a sophisticated understanding of complex capital stacks and credit structures. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume data sets and extract actionable investment insights. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts to senior executive stakeholders.
