
Court Clerk - 39th Judicial District Court

General Summary
Under the supervision of the Court Administrator, the Court Clerk performs clerical duties related to cashiering, small claims, landlord-tenant, general civil, criminal, traffic, probation, and/or administrative proceedings in the 39th District Court.
Essential Job Functions
Provide professional assistance at the counter or via phone to the public, attorneys, and law enforcement personnel in accordance with established court rules, applicable laws and internal procedures in a professional manner.
Complete standard court forms and assist the public with standard court forms.
Schedule hearings and appointments; issue proper notices.
Enter and review data in court case management systems and LEIN.
Handle and distribute mail, maintain court files, and perform data entry.
Participate in Zoom hearings.
Serve as a Certified Electronic Operator (CEO) for court recording.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
High school diploma required; college and/or previous office or court experience preferred.
Certified Electronic Operator (CEO) - preferred.
Accurate typing and strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required. Testing may be administered.
Thorough knowledge of office procedures and file management.
Excellent grammar, spelling, and math skills. Skills tests may be required.
Must pass a background investigation and/or criminal history check.
Ability to handle a variety of inquiries from the public regarding department activities.
Ability to learn, understand, and interpret the Michigan Court Rules and applicable state laws.
Ability to follow directions and work in a high-paced, high-demand team environment.
Effectively contributes to promoting a positive work environment consistent with the Court's goals and objectives.
Salary: $25.93 per hour
