About LLC University

We teach people how to start and run LLCs — clearly, truthfully, and without the confusing legal jargon this industry is infamous for. We’re obsessed with:

Accuracy

Clarity

Step-by-step instruction

Doing the right thing

Helping beginners feel confident

Setting the standard for the entire industry

We’re a profitable, mature company — but we operate like a small, scrappy, collaborative, creative crew that loves building cool stuff together. We run on curiosity, kindness, intelligence, empathy, and a freakish attention to detail.

What You’ll Do

This is not your average “blog writer” gig. This is deep-dive LLC education & research: taking complicated and confusing information and turning it into clear and actionable step-by-step lessons.

This level of writing requires:

deep thinking

organization (to a very high degree)

editing and re-editing

live reviews and “read-alouds”

You will:

Write and edit a lot of lessons: LLC formation instructions

Annual Report filing instructions

Registered Agent information

Tax guidance/compliance

Business license

Reviews on LLC filing companies

and more!

Investigate state agencies, statutes, deadlines, fees, and edge cases

Turn complex legalese into “I finally understand this!” moments

Join long brainstorming + pairwriting calls with Matt & Alex

Live in beautifully organized Google Docs

Use SEO + UX best practices (intent, flow, clarity, internal linking)

Help millions of readers feel confident about forming and running their LLC

Some months are packed with new content. Other months are full-on “deep tax cave exploration.” Occasionally, you’ll help rebuild clarity frameworks, CTAs, or content architecture. You’ll zoom between big-picture strategy and microscopic detail. You must love, and be highly proficient at both.

Who You Are

You are exceptionally rare. You:

Are deeply experienced with LLCs

Formation, amendments, members, managers, registered agents, LLC Annual Report, taxation basics, foreign qualification, dissolutions, the whole universe. You’ve lived in it — not skimmed it.

Examples of work experience could be:

You worked at the Secretary of State (or in state government).

You worked at a Registered Agent or LLC filing company.

You’re a paralegal, accountant, or attorney.

You worked at the IRS.

Communicate like a world-class educator

You can explain a complex legal concept to a 5th grader without using complex words. You’re clear. Logical. Direct. Empathetic. And you make messy topics feel simple.

Think like a lawyer, but don’t write like one

Plain English. Natural tone. Confident structure. No fluff. No legalese. You love bold text, lists, headings, examples, and clean formatting.

Are obsessed with accuracy

One wrong sentence can mislead someone forming a company. You get that. You chase the truth relentlessly. You fact-check yourself. You double-check forms. You research until you know (we don’t hit publish unless we’re 100% confident).

Are collaborative and love long working sessions

We do a lot of “pair-writing” on video calls (with screenshare). Often for many hours at a time. We take bathroom and food breaks, of course. And sometimes we “lock in” and do workshop calls for 4+ hours. Hours of deep collaboration is part of the culture — and you must genuinely enjoy it.

Can operate in chaos, structure it, and make it better

We have clarity, but we also have constant movement. You can switch gears without frustration. You stay calm, curious, and organized.

Are both humble and senior

You’ll do everything: research, write, edit, internally link, publish, QA. Nothing is “beneath you”. We all equally chip in on “scrub the deck” tasks. You take ownership and responsibility for all your work.

Preferred Experience

LLCs, Registered Agents, and Taxes

LLC taxes (default, elective, and non-US resident)

LLCs for real estate

LLC management nuances

Complex LLC situations

IRS: EIN applications, 147C Letters, Responsible Party, Changing addresses, etc.

Registered Agents (far beyond the basics)

Ability to interpret statutory law

Writing & Support

Copywriting instincts

Strong intuition for user intent and content strategy

Comfortable answering complex questions from our readers (via comments and email support)

SEO

We respect SEO.

We don’t worship it.

We create world-class content first — SEO is the seasoning, not the meal.

Values

You do things the right way.

You take pride in your craft.

You’re here to build something that lasts.
