This individual is responsible for managing social media channels, creating photography and video content, managing email campaigns, and providing other marketing and communication support under the direction of the Director, Marketing & Communications. Position Marketing Communications Assistant

Location Springfield, Oregon

Job Type Non‑exempt; 30‑40 hours per week

Office Hours Mon‑Fri from 8:30 am‑5:00 pm (some early/late hours required)

Salary $20.00 – $23.00 / Hour

About the Chamber The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce is a private, not‑for‑profit membership organization, serving the Springfield, Eugene, (OR) and surrounding communities for 75 years. The Chamber operates the Springfield Business and Visitors Center offering information, meeting space, and business development programs. Communications

Assist the Sr. Marketing and Communications Manager with daily and weekly member communications.

Manage regular email campaigns.

Develop and post content across social media platforms.

Post member news on Chamber news blog www.springfieldbottomline.com.

Promote community activities and events throughout the year.

Marketing

Promote the Chamber and Chamber members through various platforms.

Create and edit graphic design collateral for various applications including programming, events, and signage.

Create and edit photo and video content for marketing purposes.

Coordinate with vendors for branded promotional materials.

Professional Development

Participate in staff cross‑training as needed.

Required Skills and Abilities Enthusiasm for Springfield and for Chamber member organizations; proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Constant Contact; strong skills in photography, videography, and editing; excellent writing and copy‑editing abilities; effective communicator with strong email management skills and attention to detail; strong organization skills to manage deadlines and track projects; proficiency in Google Analytics is a plus.

Previous Experience, Education, Knowledge Strong understanding of brand identity, voice, and management principles; knowledge or experience developing brand style guides; strong graphic design skills and understanding of typography, use of color, and image; proficiency in design; communications‑related work experience or field of study, or proven success developing and designing marketing, promotional, and communication digital and print content in support of sales, events, or membership association organizations; multi‑lingual or multi‑cultural business environment background a plus.

Physical Requirements Sitting or standing continuously for periods of four hours, communicating verbally, communicating in writing, faculty of seeing and hearing, operating keyboard. Bending; lifting and carrying usually not to exceed 40 pounds.

Other Requirements Problem solving, analyzing/evaluating, decision‑making, discretion/confidentiality, math skills, teamwork, read/write/speak English, creativity and task handling. In addition, the ability to shift communication gears based on the type of inquiry and people accessing the Visitor Center is required.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an office environment but also requires mobility within the office. Occasional travel outside the office on Chamber‑related business. Occasional weekend, early morning, and evening with flex‑time scheduling applied.

Transportation & Mileage Reimbursement Reliable source of transportation required. Most travel will not exceed 15 miles one way. Mileage reimbursement is provided.
