Opportunity The Instructional Content Writer, Compass creates high-quality, standards-aligned formative products for teachers and students in ANet partner schools. ANet’s products provide data to teachers and leaders and support them in understanding learning standards. Reporting to the Vice President of Instructional Products, the Instructional Content Writer, Compass will be responsible for the content development and design for ANet’s Compass product.

This is a fixed-term position with an anticipated duration of four to six months.

Responsibilities

Create ANet assessment content and supporting materials aligned with content standards

Develop instructional support materials

Research and analyze curriculum and content standards examples from states and external organizations

Review historical distractor data to identify common misconceptions for each standard or part of standard

Create aligned resources for common misconceptions, such as visual examples of student work that illuminates a misconception, or a narrative explaining a common misconception, its root causes, and possible solutions

Use feedback on resources to iterate and improve created materials

Additional duties may include:

Writing math assessment items aligned to standards, including but not limited to traditional and technology-enhanced item types

Addressing feedback on assessment item content from multiple stakeholders in order to revise

Requirements & Competencies In order to be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the following:

Expertise in area of focus:

Prior instructional teaching experience in mathematics, with preference in grade 2-8

Solid understanding of mathematics state instructional standards, including Common Core State Standards

Working knowledge of strong instructional practice in mathematics and assessment design principles, with preference in grade 2-8

Communication:

Ability to communicate ideas clearly in a variety of work settings, including internal/external meetings and presentations, using language that is relatable to stakeholders

Ability to create mathematical visuals that are clear and easy to understand

Planning and Prioritization:

Ability to organize workstreams and take initiative to get assignments completed

Work effectively under deadlines and in a fast-paced work environment

Be able to incorporate input from teams or external sources, including educators

Critical Thinking & Data Orientation:

Ability to recognize needed data and understand how it impacts decisions in the work or role

Flexibility to learn and adapt to new technology to support the efficiency or delivery of work

Benefits & Compensation Benefits for this temporary role include paid time-off and a 401(k) plan with a 4% match.

The hourly salary range for this position is between $39.06. This position is non-exempt and therefore eligible for overtime pay, which requires advanced approval, in accordance with applicable laws. ANet does not negotiate pay.
