Duration Summer 2026 Semester (May 18, 2026 - August 12, 2026)

15 hours/week

Interns may choose their work hours as long as deadlines are met. Interns will also attend weekly scheduled Google Meets with the marketing manager and founder as well as in-studio meetings in Lexington or Louisville to film content.

Modality This internship is primarily remote with weekly meetings in the Lexington or Louisville studio as necessary. Interns will communicate with the marketing manager via email, weekly Google Meets, and Google Task Manager.

Compensation This internship is unpaid with course credit opportunities available.

University of Kentucky ISC 399 Course Credit (if applicable) This internship is

pre-approved for ISC 399 credit by the University of Kentucky College of Communication and Information's Department of Integrated Strategic Communication. ISC 399 applications will be accepted for Summer 2026 internships until May 4, 2026. May 15, 2026, is the last day for the Handshake contract to be approved. If you are interested in pursuing this internship for ISC 399, you will need to have an internship offer from Feather & Blade before submitting a Handshake internship application with UK.

Internship Positions Content Creation Intern

Film and edit video content (Reels & TikTok) as needed in local studio

Maintain the video content spreadsheet, organizing and tagging footage for future use

Create daily Instagram Stories that follow the brand guidelines

Create branded graphics

Assist in any event marketing

Engage with the audience as @featherandblade on Instagram and TikTok for 15 minutes, 5 days a week.

Submit 5-7 Reel/TikTok ideas per week and film 10 reels every 3 weeks.

Maintain the video content spreadsheet, organizing and tagging footage for future use

Research, develop, and present a final strategy-based marketing plan with whole intern team

Social Media Management Intern

Social media management (Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest)

Create and maintain detailed monthly content calendars for Meta (Instagram and Facebook) and TikTok

Oversee daily posting and scheduling, ensuring consistency with brand guidelines

Respond promptly to social media comments and direct messages

Track and report on performance metrics, including engagement, reach, and follower growth.

Lead Pinterest strategy, curating visually cohesive boards to highlight engaging content

Develop and manage community engagement initiatives, including giveaways and ambassador programs

Create Instagram Story graphics in collaboration with the Creative Content Intern

Engage with the audience as @featherandblade on Instagram and TikTok for 15 minutes, 5 days a week.

Submit 5-7 Reel/TikTok ideas per week and film 10 reels every 3 weeks.

Maintain the video content spreadsheet, organizing and tagging footage for future use

Research, develop, and present a final strategy-based marketing plan with whole intern team

Digital Marketing Intern

Monitor and analyze digital performance data, including Google Ads, Google Analytics, and website traffic (We will train you!)

Propose and implement SEO strategies to improve website visibility and rankings.

Design, manage, and execute Google Ads campaigns using analytics insights and Google recommendations

Manage and update Google Business profiles, responding to reviews and posting updates

Conduct market research to identify trends and competitor activity

Write and optimize blog posts for SEO, focusing on relevant industry topics.

Update website content via Squarespace, including blog posts and minor design updates

Include Like to Know (LTK affiliate links) integration as needed.

Engage with the audience as @featherandblade on Instagram and TikTok for 15 minutes, 5 days a week.

Submit 5-7 Reel/TikTok ideas per week and film 10-12 reels every 3 weeks

Maintain the video content spreadsheet, organizing and tagging footage for future use

Research, develop, and present a final strategy-based marketing plan with whole intern team

This is not an extensive tasks list and some will overlap as needed.

Internship Qualifications & Requirements

Current undergraduate student or recent graduate studying Integrated Strategic Communication, Marketing, or a related field

Must be able to commute to the Lexington or Louisville studios as needed for filming content

Familiarity with Google Drive (specifically Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Meet)

Familiarity with Canva

Reliable access to Google Task Manager, Acuity, Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Meet, Canva, and social media platforms

Academic and/or professional experience in social media marketing

Basic understanding of cosmetic tattoo services

UK ISC 399 Qualifications & Requirements (if applicable)

Completion of at least 18 credits of 300+ level ISC coursework

Handshake internship application submitted before May 4, 2026

Handshake contract approved before May 15, 2026

Completion of ISC 399 Canvas assignments throughout the semester

U of L COMM 417 Qualifications & Requirements (if applicable)

Minimum of 90 earned credit hours (and 12 credit hours at U of L)

Minimum overall GPA of 2.5

COMM 342, COMM 360, or COMM 333

Submitted U of L COMM internship application

Current resume and unofficial transcript emailed to internship course director

Internship Director’s approval for credit and registration for the course

Meeting with internship director prior to internship

Learning Outcomes

Effectively research industry trends and film, edit, and publish social media content

Develop a final marketing plan with strategies for Feather & Blade to implement

Analyze and identify various strengths and weaknesses within the website and social media platforms with suggestions for improvement

Produce high-quality graphics and written content for website and social media pages
