High-Impact Print & Packaging Plant Leader
SolomonEdwards, Belcamp, MD, United States
A well-established packaging manufacturer is seeking a hands-on
Plant Manager
with direct experience in packaging production environments (metal, formed components, high-speed press operations). Our client is seeking an experienced plant leader to run a print-driven manufacturing facility supporting hard goods and OTC products. This role owns the full end-to-end workflow from a blank product through decoration, finishing, packaging, and shipment. The ideal candidate has deep experience managing in-house printing and converting operations and understands how print, pack, and production flow impact each other on a daily basis. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who has spent time on the manufacturing floor, understands print execution, and has direct accountability for output, quality, and delivery. Key Responsibilities
Lead all day-to-day plant operations including printing, converting, finishing, packaging, and fulfillment. Own production scheduling, labor planning, and capacity management across print and pack functions. Ensure decoration execution meets quality standards, brand requirements, and customer specifications. Manage print workflows including setup versus run time considerations, reprints, bottlenecks, and sequencing from print to cure to QC to pack-out. Oversee in-house printing methods which may include screen printing, pad printing, digital or UV printing, heat transfer, or other applied decoration techniques depending on product mix. Partner with prepress and quality teams to ensure artwork readiness, color accuracy, and logo placement standards are consistently met. Maintain high standards for packaging and fulfillment including pack-out accuracy, labeling, kitting, and damage prevention. Ensure production and packaging teams are aligned to meet shipment timelines and customer requirements. Lead, train, and develop hourly and salaried teams across multiple departments. Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement. Own plant-level KPIs related to productivity, quality, scrap, rework, and on-time delivery. Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards appropriate for hard goods and OTC manufacturing environments. Required Experience
Proven experience leading a manufacturing plant or major production operation with in-house printing and packaging. Background in print-driven environments such as cosmetic packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, folding cartons, consumer packaging, or similar hard goods manufacturing. Hands-on familiarity with print and decoration processes beyond vendor coordination. Experience managing converting, finishing, and pack-out operations in a high-quality, customer-facing environment. Strong understanding of how print decisions impact downstream packaging, labor, and delivery. Demonstrated ability to run teams, manage production flow, and make real-time operational decisions on the floor. Preferred Background
Experience with flexographic, gravure, offset, digital, or UV printing. Exposure to coatings, embossing, stamping, gluing, or folding carton production. Prior Plant Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Operations Manager, or Print Operations leadership experience. The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, location and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
