IT Portfolio Analyst

Role Overview The IT Portfolio Analyst plays a key role in managing the financial performance of the global IT organization. This position is responsible for consolidating and analyzing financial data across global IT cost centers, facilitating cost allocation and chargeback processes, and providing accurate forecasts to support strategic and operational decision-making. The role works closely with IT cost center owners, Finance, Procurement, and Accounting to ensure transparency, accountability, and optimization of IT spend aligned with business priorities. The IT Portfolio Analyst will contribute to improving IT financial governance, forecasting accuracy, and portfolio visibility through data-driven insights and process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities IT Financial Performance & Reporting

Manage and monitor the overall financial performance across all global IT cost centers (labor, vendor, software, infrastructure, etc.)

Partner with Finance to analyze financial performance reports, highlight variances, trends and key drivers, ensure alignment between IT forecasts and corporate financial targets

Support annual IT budget planning and mid-year forecast cycles

Cost Allocation & Forecasting

Facilitate accurate cost allocation and chargeback processes across global business units and functions

Maintain and validate allocation methodologies and mapping between cost centers, business units, and service towers

Track and forecast IT run and project expenses, ensuring accurate capitalization vs. expense classification in compliance with accounting standards

Provide scenario analysis and recommendations to optimize IT spending and resource utilization

Data Analytics & Insights

Develop and maintain dashboards and reports in tools such as Power BI, Excel, or Smartsheet to visualize portfolio financials and KPIs

Identify cost-saving opportunities, operational efficiencies, and process automation initiatives through data-driven insights and regular industry benchmark assessment

Support IT Portfolio Management reporting by linking financial performance to project and service delivery outcomes

Process Governance & Continuous Improvement

Support implementation of IT Financial Management (ITFM/TBM) frameworks and best practices

Ensure adherence to financial policies, standards, and governance models

Drive continuous improvement in financial forecasting, cost transparency, and reporting accuracy

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Finance or related field required; Master's degree or MBA preferred

3-5 years of experience in IT financial management, FP&A, portfolio management, or business analysis roles

Experience working in a global, matrixed IT organization (preferably in Life Sciences, Pharma, or Technology industries)

Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, modeling) and Power BI (data visualization, dashboarding)

Familiarity with ERP and financial systems (SAP) and IT service management tools (ServiceNow)

Understanding of IT cost structures (OPEX/CAPEX, run/grow/transform models) and allocation methodologies

Experience with ITFM/TBM frameworks and tools (Anaplan, Apptio, Nicus, or equivalent) is a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to partner effectively with Finance and IT leadership

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of ownership and accountability

Strong business acumen and interest in connecting financial insights to operational performance

Forecast accuracy and IT cost efficiency improvement

Timely completion of monthly IT financial performance, variance and trend analysis

Improved cost allocation transparency and process efficiency

Increased stakeholder satisfaction through accurate, actionable reporting
