About the Position
Obligo is seeking a driven Collections Associate to manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts, negotiate payment plans, and improve collection processes.
In this role, you'll play a key part in fulfilling our mission of building trust between landlords and renters by ensuring timely payments and maintaining strong customer relationships. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing role and is comfortable handling difficult conversations about payments. They are resilient, goal-oriented, and eager to grow in a performance-driven environment. Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts and execute structured outreach strategies to drive timely payment resolution. Contact customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to follow up on overdue balances. Negotiate payment plans within established guidelines while maintaining professionalism and strong customer relationships. Accurately document all customer interactions and payment arrangements in internal systems. Meet or exceed individual recovery and activity targets. Collaborate with the Senior Collections Associate and leadership team to share trends, customer insights, and opportunities to improve messaging and processes. Requirements
1–2 years of experience in collections, sales, account management, financial services, or another customer-facing role involving negotiation or payment discussions. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult conversations with confidence and professionalism. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfort working toward measurable performance goals or quotas. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team environment. Located in the New York City metro area and able to commute to our NYC office. Benefits and Perks
