Job Summary Repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks, or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injections, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. Primary Job Functions

Performs the full range of repair and modification work on heavy/light equipment and vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components. Service automotive electrical systems to include wiring harness, starting and charging systems. Test drive vehicles, and test components and systems, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices. Repairs, relines, replaces, and adjusts brakes. Follows checklists to ensure all important parts are examined, including belts, hoses, steering systems, spark plugs, brake and fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other potentially troublesome areas. Follows repair procedures, using charts, and technical manuals. Education, Experience and Certification

High School Diploma or equivalent education 5 years related experience Certifications in ASE, Engine Performance, Electrical/Electronics, Brakes, AC/Heating, Steering & Suspension Systems, Engine Repair or OEM equivalent within 18 months of employment. Working Conditions

Must be able to lift 50 lbs., squat, bend, stoop and kneel for short periods, climb a ladder, stand for long periods of time, constant arm extensions. Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, chemicals, but none to the point of being disagreeable. May involve minor safety hazards where likely result would be cuts, bruises, etc. Must be able to pass a local background check and have the ability to obtain and maintain security clearance after hire. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Must be ASE Certified, Engine Performance, Electrical/Electronics, Brakes, AC/Heating, Steering and Suspension systems, Engine Repair and/or OEM equivalent within 18 months of employment. Disclaimer

The rate for this position is $39.54.
