About the Role: As a mechanical designer with Maverick Power you will be working with our engineering and manufacturing teams to design and produce power distribution and control systems for industry leading customers all over the world. Your work will be exciting and varied working on projects which require knowledge of applications, electrical/electronics, mechanical, manufacturing, quality and safety. Never a dull day, and always a challenging problem to solve in a collaborative, goal focused environment. Key Responsibilities: Work with the development to design and build electrical distribution equipment Mechanical design for low and medium voltage switchgear, switchboards, panel boards, and control panels. Evaluate drawings and specifications to develop designs that meet customer requirements. Design electrical enclosures meeting applicable UL, ANSI, IEEE, etc. safety standards. Create bills of materials, specify parts, work with internal and external manufacturing. Determine deliverable due dates and hold to the schedule. Build prototypes Research and find new components and vendors Lead interaction with other functions and locations to determine optimum product/process solutions. Check other team member's drawings Additional responsibilities include but not limited to process improvement and writing documentation. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Technology & minimal mechanical design experience OR Associates Degree & minimum of 5 years of mechanical design experience Manufacturing experience regarding the assembly of bills of material, drawing packages, work instructions, and testing plans Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year experience with 3D CAD, SolidWorks is preferred. Experience building and fabricating electrical and electronics enclosures. Experience with Epicor or similar ERP systems Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low. Prolonged periods sitting, standing, walking, and performing repetitive tasks. Must be able to navigate the warehouse and reach items both high and low. Prolonged periods standing on the manufacturing floor and sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must have vision correctable to 20/20 and be able to wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, boots, gloves, etc.). Duties are performed in a loud production setting subject to extreme temperatures. Some duties may be required to be performed outside. Work Environment: May work in various settings at the Maverick Power facilities, in offices, in multiple shops, and in commercial buildings. Maintaining the same position or posture while performing tasks and sitting for prolonged periods.
