Responsibilities
Responsible for planning and performing design development tasks from concept to implementation
Responsible for interpreting requirements as given by Sales and Automation Consulting Engineers (ACEs) and delivering products that satisfy those requirements
Responsible for studying and evaluating disciplinary or interdisciplinary aspects of new product or design concepts, including all necessary functions leading to presentation and recommendation of possible solutions
Plan and direct testing necessary to ensure adequate performance of designs for all stages of design and development or complexity
Responsible for timely completion and adequacy of the assigned development task for performance and compliance with standards
Responsible for the adequate documentation of the performed task including description, specification, testing and implementation
Responsible for the clear presentation of developments or designs at design reviews
Responsible for independently taking control and completing assigned major sections of a new product development effort
Responsible for troubleshooting problems and completing design changes based on investigation
Responsible for solving new, unseen design challenges and releasing standardized products to satisfy common challenges
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Must have demonstrated strong analytical skills
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as required to interface with other departments and company personnel as well as vendors and customers
Must possess great work ethic and ability to work independently
Must be able to actively schedule effort based on highest priority across many ongoing projects at once
Must have 3D CAD and/or solid modeling experience
Prefer ability to inspect parts using applicable measuring devices, micrometers, calipers, scales and rulers, balances, etc.
Prefer general knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and their application
Prefer demonstrated hands-on mechanical experience
Prefer working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Position requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Education/Experience
Level II requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field required
3+ years of experience in the design and development of custom product components
Experience completing design layouts and other presentation material
Experience communicating with vendors and/or customers
Experience creating usable products from design concept to delivery and supporting product during end use
Level III requirements:
Master’s degree and or 6+ years of experience combined with above requirements may qualify for level III
