Job Description Summary
This is a field-based and remote opportunity supporting key accounts in Richmond, Fredericksburg, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Norfolk/Virginia Beach and the surrounding geography. The Oncology Sales Specialist will handle delivering sales performance and promoting product(s) within the oncology, hematology or rare disease portfolio of Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation.
The role requires a deep level of commercial insight, curiosity, continuous learning, leadership among peers, customer focus, and the ability to adopt digital tools to combine customer and data insights to improve sales opportunities in competitive markets.

Develop and execute a call-plan to achieve goals and improve access and sales opportunities, while promoting a highly technical and innovative product portfolio to a sophisticated audience.
Maintain a strong understanding of the local healthcare system landscape, EMRs, pathways, PA-claims processing and develop and execute account-level plans with an account management mentality.
Use sales data reporting tools to understand trends and couple with customer insights to identify territory and customer growth opportunities.
Demonstrate use of social media platforms to capture customer insights to drive tactical execution and improve customer experience.
Move between non-digital and digital settings and strategically use non-personal tools to deliver customized customer experiences.
Essential Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required from a 4-year college or university.
Experience (see leveling guidelines) in pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or similarly structured industries with large, geographically dispersed sales teams within the last 5 years. Candidates from other complex sales environments are welcome if they demonstrate relevant skills and customer engagement success.
Strong ability to collaborate, work cross-functionally within a matrix environment, communicate clinical product information, and consistently perform at a high level in selling to large accounts and key customer segments.
Self-starter with analytic abilities to seek out and apply relevant information to solve problems for key customers, while demonstrating ethical leadership and compliance with policies and laws.
Candidate must reside within the territory, or within a reasonable daily commuting distance (50 miles from the territory border). Ability to travel 60-80% over a broad geography is required, with the ability to drive and/or fly within the territory. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Desirable Requirements
Experience across therapeutic groups, disease states, account management strategy, and new product launches.
Broad understanding of patient services, market access, buy and bill, specialty pharmacy, reimbursement and/or medical calling on HCPs with respect to a sophisticated product or reimbursement pathway.
Leveling Guidelines The position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience.
Oncology Roles
Oncology Representative:
2+ years’ experience in a related field or similar level within the last 5 years.
Oncology Specialist:
4+ years’ experience in a related field or similar level within the last 5 years.
Senior Oncology Specialist:
6+ years’ experience in a related field or similar level within the last 5 years.

Compensation Summary Novartis Compensation Summary:
The salary for this position is expected to range between:
Oncology Representative: $81,200 and $150,800 per year
Oncology Specialist: $114,100 and $211,900 per year
Senior Oncology Specialist: $132,300 and $245,700 per year
The final salary offered is determined based on factors like relevant skills and experience, and will be reviewed periodically. Salary ranges may change based on company and market factors.
Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the role level, eligibility for annual equity awards.
