Compensation for this position is expected to range between $101,277.00 and $103,277.00 per year , in alignment with what California Baptist University ( CBU ) reasonably anticipates paying for this role. Position Summary Information Summary Assists the Director of Safety Services in all department duties by ensuring compliance with University policies; local, state, and federal laws; overseeing emergency/disaster planning; collecting and analyzing Clery data collection for reporting; and managing operations of the patrol/prevention programs. Responds to emergency calls to protect persons or property from crimes or other hazards. May be assigned to any shift, which could include working holidays and weekends. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Provide administrative and executive assistance to the Director of Safety Services. 3. Manage data collection and compilation of statistical information required for publication of the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report under the Jeanne Clery Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act. 4. Provide for the continuation of command and/or supervision in the Director’s absence. Assist with the day-to-day management of the Safety Services Department. 5. Assist with and maintain budgetary control and 24/7 staffing allocation for the department. 6. Direct and control personnel under command to assure the proper performance of duties and adherence to established rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 7. Assure that department equipment, supplies, and materials assigned to the command are correctly used, inventoried, and maintained. 8. Prepare and maintain correspondence, reports, and records relating to the activity of command. 9. Plan and direct a comprehensive program of public safety for the university. 10. Direct, through subordinates, patrol of university property, apprehension of suspects, and recommendations for the disposition of cases of crimes or incidents against the university community. 11. Oversee follow-up investigations to on-campus criminal activity, university student policy violations, and other occurrences. 12. Attend to emergency requests as they arise; render on-site emergency assistance as required within specified protocol and procedure. 13. Must be willing to work any days, including weekends and holidays, and any hours necessary to meet the needs of the university and department.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POSITION : 1. Must be able to qualify for, obtain, and maintain at all times, a Guard Registration through the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs ( BSIS ). 2. Must be able to qualify for and maintain at all times, State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs ( BSIS ) Firearm permit as a condition of continued employment. 3. Must possess a valid California Driver License. 4. Ability to work a flexible schedule of nights and weekends. 5. Knowledge of, and the ability to apply, relevant sections of the California Penal Code, California Vehicle Code, California Business and Professions Code, California Code of Regulations, and other professional codes and statutes. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervise employees. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have a good working knowledge of the Clery Act and compliance issues relating to such and keep up to date with laws and regulations, and all such changes. Ability to work shift assignments as required by the department, which could include working holidays and weekends. Ability to conduct crime deterrence and prevention programs Skill in completing accident and criminal investigations. Skill in providing protection services to individuals on campus. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Knowledge of laws, regulations, methods, and techniques in area of specialty. Ability to react calmly and effectively in all situations. Skills in the use of first aid procedures. Skill in building security and lock procedures. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications. Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues. A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices. Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to use independent judgment, and to manage and impart confidential information. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent telephone courtesy, knowledge and experience. Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation. Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions. PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard, typewriter or other office equipment. Moderate physical activity, requires handling of average-weight objects up to 30 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
