Job Purpose

This position focuses on commercial and industrial banking for the Louisville and Lexington market areas. It will build and lead a high performing commercial banking team responsible for identifying middle market prospects, acquiring new middle market clients, retaining middle market clients, and expanding relationships with existing middle market clients. The role requires a dynamic leader who can engage the middle-market business community, promote Peoples Bancorp’s capabilities, and foster strong relationships in the region. The successful candidate will create excitement around the organization’s product offerings and collaborate with other Peoples Bancorp business units to identify and capitalize on commercial banking opportunities.

Job Duties Business Development & Client Acquisition: Gain a broad understanding and appreciation of Peoples Bancorp, its competitive advantages, the businesses in which it competes, its systems, methodologies and processes, and the culture of the organization.

Leverage Peoples Bancorp's competitive market advantages to grow the commercial banking business in the Louisville and Lexington markets.

Grow revenue by attracting, retaining, and acquiring quality middle market clients.

Drive the development of full commercial & industrial banking relationships through delivery of broad solutions, including treasury management, trust and investment services, and insurance.

Leverage existing relationships of other Peoples Bancorp businesses to maximize commercial banking opportunities in the market.

Develop new business leads for commercial banking using a network of existing professional contacts; conduct one-on-one meetings, participate in professional, charitable and community organizations, and attend high-profile events.

Advocate Peoples Bancorp’s competitive advantages in commercial banking to the community; present a compelling case for doing business with Peoples Bancorp.

Identify and advise prospective clients on Peoples Bancorp’s comprehensive commercial banking capabilities to meet present and future needs.

Refer clients to colleagues to demonstrate additional capabilities and offerings in commercial banking, premium financing, leasing, insurance, and retirement solutions.

Leadership & Team Management Responsible for the management and leadership of a commercial banking team, including recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance monitoring.

Foster a positive, energetic, collaborative, team-oriented and productive work environment.

Provide performance feedback through quarterly and annual reviews, developmental action plans, and disciplinary actions as applicable.

Achieve departmental goals within defined timelines and implement measurements of staff performance.

Train staff regarding changes to regulations, policies and procedures.

Perform special projects as assigned.

Education, Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree is a plus.

Ten-plus years of sales experience in Commercial Banking with an organization known for its Commercial Banking function.

Experience prospecting and winning new business and expanding the organization’s presence in the market.

Demonstrated success in expanding client relationships to meet comprehensive commercial banking needs.

Working knowledge of credit and the ability to deliver breadth and depth of offerings to high-net-worth clients.

Preferably established in the Louisville and Lexington markets with knowledge of the area’s business climate and access to CFOs, CEOs and COIs.

Active in professional, charitable or community organizations; well connected to key centers of influence including accounting, legal and government-related professionals.

Travel required.

Team player.

Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required.

10-plus years of sales experience in Commercial Banking.
