Ellis Early Learning, "Ellis," (formerly known as Ellis Memorial) is a vibrant, Boston-based nonprofit with a rich history founded in 1885. Ellis provides the highest quality early education and care for infants, toddlers and preschool children. Ellis is among the most socio-economically, racially, and culturally diverse organizations serving children in Boston and is nationally accredited. Through a partnership with Boston Public Schools, it also operates four high performing community based UPK classrooms. Ellis operates out of two historic buildings in the South End and a new center in Jamaica Plain and serves over 300 children annually.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Perform prospect research to evaluate prospects for grants
- Grow our grant pipeline
- Develop and submit proposals to private or public funders for grant funding
- Proposal development including all aspects of proposal writing
- Facilitate the flow of progress, proposal preparations, and submission to foundations, non-profit entities, the government, or other funding agencies
- Maintain compliance with all grant reporting as required by donors
- Maintenance of grant records in the database and paper files, including grant tracking and reporting
- Work closely with VP of Advancement, Community, and Equity
Job qualifications:
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
- Strong editing skills
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of fundraising information sources
- Experience with proposal writing
- Familiarity with the grant platform InstrumentL a plus
- Knowledge of basic fundraising techniques and strategies
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree at the bachelor's level and 3-5 years relevant experience necessary
