Director, Product Management – Payments Platform / Payment Framework
The Director, Product Management – Payments Platform / Payment Framework is responsible for defining, scaling, and commercializing core payment processing capabilities across global card present and card not present channels. This role includes product strategy responsibilities and execution for foundational payment platform capabilities in collaboration with processors, networks/schemes, and downstream services.
As a Director, Product Management within the Payment Framework and Orchestration Product Management team, this role partners closely with Engineering, Architecture, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Sales, and Commercial teams to ensure platform consistency, regulatory compliance, and long term scalability across the Visa Acceptance Platform.
This position also includes people management responsibilities, and accountability for developing high performing product team.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform & Payments Domain
Provide deep subject matter expertise across payment acceptance, processing, and orchestration
Bring prior strong level of experience in payments processing products
Apply strong understanding of risk and fraud concepts to platform design decisions
In collaboration with the product leadership, develop a multi year product vision and strategy for core payment platform capabilities, balancing innovation, resilience, regulatory requirements, and global scalability
Ownership and prioritisation of payment capabilities, in alignment with Visa’s acceptance strategy and client needs
Identify emerging market, merchant, and partner needs and translate them into differentiated, scalable platform capabilities
People Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product managers, setting clear expectations, coaching for impact, and supporting career growth
Establish strong product management standards across discovery, delivery, execution quality, and stakeholder communication
Drive a culture of accountability, data driven decision making, and customer centric product thinking
Product Definition & Delivery Excellence
Own creation of high quality product requirements, epics, features, process flows, and business rules for complex payment capabilities
Active engagement in agile delivery as needed to ensure clarity of intent, quality of execution, and alignment to business outcomes
Define complete payment experiences, fulfilling the product lifecycle management needs
Use data to make product decisions and evaluate and improve platform capabilities
Drive prioritization decisions grounded in measurable impact and long term platform health
Define value propositions, pricing approaches, and merchant facing narratives for platform capabilities
Partner with Sales, Product & Program Management, Commercial, Legal, Compliance, UX, and external partners to execute successful go to market plans
Support merchant, partner, and internal engagements by clearly articulating product capabilities, differentiation, and roadmap direction
Executive Communication & Representation
Communicate product strategy, roadmap progress, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership
Represent the payments platform product area internally and externally as a trusted subject matter expert
Provide clear, concise executive level updates and decision frameworks
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Basic Qualifications:
10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
10+ years of product management experience
Proven experience managing and developing product managers
Deep expertise in payments processing (gateways, acquiring, scheme rules, lifecycle flows, and regulatory/compliance mandates)
Demonstrated success leading cross functional product initiatives in complex, highly regulated environments
Experience owning API contracts, platform capabilities, and long-term product architecture decisions
Strong strategic and analytical skills with a bias toward scalable, durable platform solutions
Executive level communication skills with the ability to influence across senior technical and business stakeholders
Work Hours:
Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements:
This position requires travel5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements:
This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
