The Indirect Tax Administrator is responsible for the accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of sales and use taxes across multiple U.S. jurisdictions. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, supports audits, and partners with internal stakeholders to manage indirect tax obligations efficiently and accurately. Key Responsibilities
Compliance Prepare, review, and file U.S. sales and use tax returns and personal property tax returns (monthly, quarterly, and annual) across multiple states and local jurisdictions. Ensure timely and accurate tax payments to taxing authorities. Research and interpret state and local tax laws and legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance. Maintain tax calendars and monitor filing deadlines. Reconcile sales tax accounts, general ledger balances, and tax reports. Audit Support Assist with sales and use and personal property tax audits, including data gathering, document preparation, and auditor communication. Track audit notices, assessments, and resolutions. Support implementation of audit findings and corrective actions. Exemptions & Documentation Manage resale and exemption certificates, including collection, validation, and record retention. Ensure compliance with state documentation requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, IT, and Sales teams to address tax-related questions. Provide guidance on sales and use tax implications for new products, services, or business initiatives. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field 25 years of experience in U.S. sales and use tax or indirect tax compliance Strong understanding of multi-state sales and use tax regulations Experience preparing and filing returns in multiple jurisdictions Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems Preferred Qualifications
Experience with sales tax automation software (e.g., Avalara or similar tools) and PTMS Property Tax Software. Experience supporting sales and use tax audits Exposure to ERP systems Prior experience in a multi-state or high-volume transaction environment Key Skills & Competencies
