Foxhole is seeking a qualified Senior Database Architect. The Database Architect requires an in-depth technical foundation in database structure, configuration, installation, operation and maintenance with experience designing databases. This position requires knowledge and experience in major relational database languages and applications, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Oracle Apex. This position focuses on using relevant experience, strong problem solving, and customer service skills to assist with architecting, testing, deploying, enhancing, and sustaining development and operational activities in close coordination with the Government. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to pay attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation and the ability to work as part of a team.
Job Description
Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, robust, and performance database architectures to support enterprise solutions
Develop comprehensive conceptual, logical, and physical data models, define and enforce enterprise-level standards for data naming conventions, modeling principles, and database schema design
Evaluate, select, and implement database technologies, tools, and platforms that align with strategic business goals and modernization efforts
Design data warehouse, data lake, and data mart solutions
Conduct in-depth performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning to ensure high availability, reliability, and responsiveness
Lead efforts to stabilize and optimize production environments, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementing long-term solutions
Establish database monitoring, alerting, and proactive maintenance routines using modern tools
Translating requirements into technical data solutions, acting as a liaison between technical and non-technical stakeholders
Providing input to database policy guidance and, upon approval, implementation as necessary
Partner with software engineers and developers, operations, and security professionals to design efficient APIs, data integration pipelines, and services
Work on all phases of solutions from analysis and design through implementation and support
Minimum Requirements
At least 8 years of experience in a database administration role, with at least 5+ years in senior database administration/engineering/architecture role
Expertise in data modeling, with expert-level proficiency with relational databases
Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale, enterprise-level data systems
Ability to provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to DBA team members
Provide architectural leadership during system migration and modernization projects, ensuring minimal downtime and data integrity
Proficiency in developing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and backup/recovery strategies to ensure continuity
Experience designing and implementing end-to-end data security, including encryption, role-based access control, auditing, and compliance with regulations
Microsoft Office application skills to include Microsoft Access knowledge
Strong ability to produce visualization of data for leadership decision-making
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Active Secret Clearance
Desired Experience/Certifications
Bachelor's (BS) and/or Master (MS) degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or equivalent experience (10+ years) - strongly preferred but not required
Certified, CompTIA Security+ Oracle Certified Associate and/or MS SQL certification is a plus
Experience supporting teams in AWS environments (GovCloud a plus)
Experience supporting or participating in Product Release related activities
Knowledge and experience with automation; reducing manual activities
