
Communications Manager

The Communications Manager leads the strategy, execution, and oversight of integrated marketing, communications, and public relations efforts for Downtown Columbus, Inc. and its portfolio of brands and initiatives, including Columbus Commons, The Peninsula, The Capital Line, Ground Floor Growth, and others.
Using a comprehensive and integrated approach, this position works with the Marketing and Communications team to administer content across digital, print, visual, and written media, including web and social media content, video, photography, press releases, newsletters, speeches, and advertising.
This role takes an audience-centered approach to storytelling, ensuring content across all channels works together to reinforce the importance and vibrancy of Downtown Columbus.
This role is on-site and requires working from our Downtown Columbus office.
Supervision
Reports to the Director of Communications Responsibilities
Plan and execute marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives in alignment with organizational goals and established strategies. Serve as the media contact for the organization, managing media inquiries, pitching strategy, and overseeing the PR consultant. Experience in media relations and press engagement is required. Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and community partners to ensure communications efforts are aligned and delivered effectively. Develop and implement paid and organic marketing campaigns that support event attendance, visitation, and awareness of Downtown Columbus and related initiatives. Work across departments to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and timely across all channels, including websites, social media, email, print, press, and on-site communications. Manage brand execution for organizational initiatives, ensuring consistent tone, voice, and visual standards across platforms and materials. Draft, edit, and review marketing and communications materials for clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment, including digital content, print assets, press releases, and website content. Prepare communications materials for executive staff and board meetings, including presentations, reports, and summaries of initiatives and impact. Support the development of multimedia content by coordinating copywriting, graphic design, photography, and video production with internal staff and external vendors. Manage public relations activities, including working with consultants to support media outreach and coverage. Oversee social media content planning and execution across platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn, ensuring brand consistency and audience engagement. Additional Duties

Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field. 7-10 years of experience in media relations, PR, social media, marketing, communications, or related field. Strong verbal and written communication skills Passionate and knowledgeable about Downtown Columbus and/or Columbus Commons. Experience with WordPress preferred. This position is fully in-person. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Compensation
Annual salary range: $90,000–$95,000, including benefits and complimentary parking.
