Commercial Risks Underwriter
Responsible for all aspects of marketing and underwriting of commercial risks as part of the US Management & Professional Lines team. Lines of business include D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, E&O, Crime and other ancillary lines. Responsibilities Effectively market Canopius' capabilities, appetite and generate risk opportunities from retail and wholesale brokers Actively participate in client meetings with current Insureds as well as prospects in order to secure important underwriting information to assist with decision making Perform all aspects of the underwriting process including risk assessment, underwriting analysis and determine rate adequacy Properly rate, quote and bind risk in line with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite Communicate market intelligence surrounding competitors and brokers Understand and stay up to date surrounding the economic and legal issues impacting Lawyers and Accountants Professional Liability as well as Architects & Engineers and the various other Professional Services associated with the Miscellaneous Professional Liability book and corresponding coverage implications Actively participate in US Management and Professional Lines team strategy and peer discussions Ensure all aspects of compliance surrounding file documentation and decisions are properly maintained for regulatory and other reporting requirements Provide detailed information surrounding various underwriting issues, as requested and in timely fashion Actively participate and represent Canopius at select industry events, where appropriate Skills and Experience Seven to twelve plus years of experience in US management and professional lines Established broker relationships College Degree Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Ability to work under pressure as part of a growing team and self motivated to work independently Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal IT literacy including advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications Underwriting Strategy Insurance Knowledge Pricing and Risk Selection Insurance Negotiation Stakeholder Engagement Data Analysis & Review Regulatory Compliance Underwriting Portfolio Management External Environment Knowledge Product Development Business Development Business Process Improvement Presentation Skills Product Distribution Strategy Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000
