Limited-term positions are not permanent civil service positions, and as such, these positions do not offer the full range of benefits of civil service employment. These opportunities can, however, provide insight to the variety of positions and opportunities for employment available with the DCF. LTE positions are limited to 1039 hours per year. A Limited-Term Employment is a great way to gain training and experience while also serving the children and families of Wisconsin! This position may allow hybrid work for a portion of the work schedule up to 95% depending on the employee’s preference and needs of the work unit. Any hybrid work flexibility that may be available will be discussed in more detail in the interview process. For positions that do allow hybrid work flexibility, employees may need to report to a DCF office location on short notice. There is no mileage reimbursement when traveling to the headquarter location. Our DCF locations are in the following cities: Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Eau Claire, and Rhinelander.

The Communications Specialist – Senior position is responsible for leading and managing Preschool Development Grant (PDG) communications, promotions, and outreach activities. This includes developing, reviewing, and disseminating written, verbal, and electronic PDG communications to stakeholders. The position will also not only support the division’s communication plans but also support internal and external Division of Early Care and Education (DECE) communications. Primary responsibilities include researching, designing, writing, editing, and proofreading division communications and print or electronic publications; ensuring alignment with communication strategies, content accuracy, branding and accessibility standards; and applying tactics to increase engagement. The classification title for this position is Communications Specialist - Sr. The starting salary is between $28.00 and $34.00 per hour depending on qualifications. Pay for current State of WI employees will be based on the compensation plan in effect at the time of the appointment.

Pay for current state employees who are transferring will be determined based upon the pay on transfer rules (higher level duties or equity) as outlined in the compensation plan in effect at the time of appointment. The pay schedule/range is 07-04. Due to the nature of the position, final candidates may be required to allow DCF to conduct a security background check to determine whether the circumstances of any pending charges or convictions would be substantially related to the job being filled. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DCF sponsorship.) The Department of Children and Families does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time. Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have: Experience developing and implementing strategic communication plans (aligning messaging with organizational goals, targeting specific audiences, communication channel selection, creating a tactical timeline, etc.) Experience creating, reviewing, and editing written communications materials for internal and external audiences (i.e. publications, social media, one-pagers) Experience maintaining web content (creating and maintaining webpages, creating and reviewing web materials according to branding standards) Well-qualified applicants will have: Experience coordinating with internal and external partners and subject matter experts in the development and implementation of communication outreach priorities. Experience working in the early care and education or human services field (child care, child welfare, food, housing, or employment assistance or support, etc.) Experience planning, designing, and editing visually appealing products (infographics, reports, one-pagers, and/or social media content, etc.) How To Apply
