The Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Health Care Administrator (HCA) provides leadership and direction for healthcare, prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes for 24 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports teams and our club sport program.

This position reports to the Director of Athletics and provides direction to the athletic training staff and works closely with the strength and conditioning team to develop a holistic approach to sport medicine and treatment. Position oversees the procurement and management of the University’s student athlete insurance plan. This administrative role assures compliance with all pertinent NCAA health and safety legislation that impacts student-athlete health and well-being.* Ability to make independent decisions regarding the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic-related injury/illnesses, screening of pathologies, and referral of student-athletes to appropriate medical providers.* Develop and regulate policies, procedures, and protocols for athletic training services based on NATA professional standards, NCAA recommendations, and team physicians’ advice.* Provide sport coverage, including attendance at scheduled team practices, home and away competitions as necessary.* Plan and coordinate all physician referrals and follow-ups.* Oversee all acute injury and post-operative rehabilitation.* Organize weekly on-campus physicians’ clinics for student-athletes to see medical specialists for their needs.* Develop and implement policy and procedures to aid in risk management.* Develop and implement a concussion management plan as per the NCAA.* Develop and implement a mental health recognition & referral plan in accordance with NCAA and Barry University standards.* Emergency Action Plan [EAP] – Regularly update and inform coaches, athletic staff, and students.* Monitoring environmental conditions using appropriate methods and guidelines to facilitate the safety of athletic teams.* Work with on-campus environmental staff to ensure safe conditions for staff & student athletes, including air quality, drinking water, ice, and other environmental conditions.* Coordinate and ensure the CPR, AED, and First Aid certification and Concussion education for all full-time coaches and staff.* A Master's degree in Athletic Training or a closely related field is required.* A minimum of 5–8 years of verifiable experience in a comparable position.* Active BOC Athletic Training Certification.* Experience with BIODEX or similar software.* Therapeutic modalities, therapeutic exercise equipment, and emergency care equipment* Active-State of Florida License in Athletic Training.* A valid driver's license.* Professional medical communication/terminology skills.Barry University is a private Catholic institution with a history of academic excellence.
