Tax Collector (Hybrid) – Greater Phoenix Metro Area
Position Overview
The Collector is responsible for the collection of assigned tax cases for the State of Arizona and participating counties and cities. Cases may include
Individual Income Tax, Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Tax, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT).
This role involves resolving delinquent tax liabilities through phone contact and scheduled field visits to residences, places of employment, and business locations. The Collector educates taxpayers, promotes voluntary compliance, and ensures proper resolution of outstanding tax obligations.
Successful candidates will demonstrate integrity, accountability, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to serving others with a positive attitude.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze taxpayer accounts
Verify, gather, and update key taxpayer information across multiple systems
Contact taxpayers via phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities
Schedule and conduct field visits to residences, workplaces, and business locations
Educate taxpayers on online resources and current tax policies
Promote voluntary compliance by reviewing financial statements and providing documentation guidance
Negotiate payment arrangements
Document all actions taken accurately in multiple systems
Participate in seizure and sale of assets and/or inventory when necessary, including:
Determining lien property
Analyzing asset/inventory value
Securing property
Preparing and conducting public auctions
Physically moving assets to set up sales
Participate in team engagement activities
Meet established performance expectations
Required Skills
Strong multitasking ability
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace
Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to retain and apply knowledge quickly

Strong organizational skills
Preferred Skills
Spanish-speaking
Experience participating in process improvement initiatives
Required Experience
Previous two positions must each be at least
one consecutive year
in a fast-paced call center environment
Experience in national call centers within:
Finance/Banking
Insurance
Telecommunications (non-technical support)
Note: Switchboard/dispatch-only call handling experience will not qualify.
Education
Required:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Associate’s Degree or higher
Additional Requirements & Information
Must live in the
Greater Phoenix Metro Area
Must attend
Day 1 orientation in person
Hybrid role
(after successful completion of onsite training)
Training is
intensive, 3–6 weeks onsite , Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm
Attendance during training and assignment is critical
Operating hours:
8:00am–6:30pm
(schedule will fall within these hours)
Must be flexible between
7:45am–5:15pm business needs
No set end date; potential for future permanent employment based on performance and culture alignment
Candidates must pass:
State and federal criminal background check
Fingerprinting
Arizona tax filing records check (past 5 years)
Must be current on Arizona state taxes
Must have hardwired internet with sufficient bandwidth
If using a 5G router, must bring it on Day 1 for IT configuration
Must be able to transport company-issued equipment (micro desktop, two monitors, keyboard, mouse, headset) from office to home —
not via public transportation
Short-term job history may disqualify candidates
