Overview
Duties Description. Reporting to the Intergovernmental Affairs' Legislative Liaison, the intern would assist with outreach to Elected Officials and learn systems to manage our workflow. They will learn and assist with marketing materials, constituent assistance, and research. Responsibilities
Assist with planning, development and implementation of goals and program-area priorities. Learn and assist with constituent issue case load to help provide timely updates on resolutions to elected officials. Provide research into special projects, processes, outreach efforts, and event planning. Assist in the day-to-day operations and activities of the Intergovernmental Affairs team Minimum Qualifications
Be a United States citizen or foreign national eligible to work in the United States Be 18 years of age or older Be actively enrolled in a New York State college, university, or graduate program, or be a resident of New York State, attending a college, university or graduate program outside of New York State Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four-year college or university (completion of one year\'s worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program), or be a currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0, or the letter grade equivalent Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of the New York state legislative cycle Knowledge of state and federal legislative processes Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening skills Preferred Skill Sets
Must be a self-starter and team player able to work collaboratively with and through others Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects Ability to clearly articulate messages to a variety of audiences Ability to learn and work in new software and electronic platforms Commitment to maintaining confidentiality Preferred Degree Concentrations/Major
