Overview

Position Description: CGI Federal's Housing Compliance team that partners with a local public housing authority and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to assist in the provision of affordable housing has an opening for a Business Processing Specialist in Nashville, TN. Under the direction of the Asset Manager/Central Services Manager (CSM), the Business Processing Specialist will work directly with property owners and staff to assist them with a variety of tasks including renewals of their affordable housing contracts, determining annual rent adjustments, reconciling monthly payment requests, processing claims for unpaid rent and damages, and extended vacancies. The Specialist will use CGI's propriety IT systems as well as the Microsoft Office Suite to accomplish day-to-day tasks. This position is located in Nashville, TN. New team members receive in-depth training, and additional training and professional development opportunities are available in the affordable housing industry and general business skills.

Responsibilities Responsible for managing a portfolio of assisted housing contracts to ensure the accurate and timely completion of all required tasks, which includes but is not limited to:

Perform detailed reconciliation of monthly voucher payments to property owners, communicating any deficiencies and the required corrective actions.

Renew expiring Housing Assistance Payments contracts, understanding HUD requirements and collaborating with HUD, property owners, management agents, and attorneys.

Process annual contract rent adjustments, identifying complete package requirements, communicating any deficiencies, and preparing documentation.

Evaluate and approve owner\'s claims for reimbursement due to unpaid rent, tenant damages and vacancies.

Maintain property files and records retention in accordance with HUD and corporate policy.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with cross-functional teams, HUD, property owners, management agents, and attorneys.

Engaged and responsive to emails, Teams messages, and phone calls in a timely manner.

Consistently demonstrate the ability to accurately update all applicable systems immediately following the completion of required tasks.

Adhere to established timelines, input clear, accurate and timely system notes as needed, and generate, understand and utilize system reports.

Proactive in continued learning and understanding of different HUD program requirements as outlined in HUD handbooks, guidebooks, notices, and operational manuals.

Become proficient and efficient in identifying issues and assessing their impact on core task processing along with developing solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required or significant relevant experience in lieu of a bachelor's degree will be considered. Bachelor\'s degree is preferred.

Must have at least 2 years\' experience with regulatory control or compliance in a professional office business / corporate environment.

Professional, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Desire to work in a team environment.

Proven ability to accurately and timely complete tasks within established timelines and quality standards.

Proven ability to understand, interpret and apply written policies and procedures.

Strong customer service skills.

Learn from past experiences and apply to future circumstances.

Ability to multi-task, be self-motivated and proactive.

Desired qualifications

3-5 years of experience processing tasks in a compliance/regulatory environment.

Compensation and Benefits CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The current range in the U.S. is $38,800.00 - $70,300.00. Compensation decisions are based on skill set, experience, training, and certifications. CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role.
