Job Title: Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The PCB Layout Designer plays a critical role in the execution of printed circuit board (PCB) layout activities. This position works closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and cross-functional product development teams to produce detailed PCB layouts and complete manufacturing documentation using industry-standard CAD tools such as Altium, PADS, and Xpedition. The role supports product development across a variety of regulated and commercial product types.
Essential Functions
Manage PCB libraries, component placement, layout execution, and design reviews
Develop PCB layout solutions for complex, multi-layer printed circuit boards
Lead PCB layout reviews, including high-speed design feedback such as crosstalk analysis and best-practice strategies
Collaborate with cross-functional product development teams to support product development efforts
Maintain and manage PADS libraries and associated CAD assets
Support project quoting for PCB layout work based on customer requirements and engineering design direction
Stay current with high-speed PCB design techniques, including material selection, layer stack-up construction, and manufacturing guidelines, and apply them as appropriate
Support electronic component selection and qualification in collaboration with the engineering team
Create complete engineering documentation required for PCBA manufacturing, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly drawings
Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment consisting of electrical hardware and mechanical engineers
Participate in departmental and program meetings to ensure continuity and alignment across teams
Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and collaboration at all levels while contributing to a positive team environment
Mentor junior designers and team members as appropriate
Mandatory Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of relevant PCB layout and CAD design experience
Advanced proficiency in PCB CAD tools, including Altium, PADS, Xpedition, or similar software
Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of relevant PCB layout experience
Prior experience working in a project-based or consulting-style environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proven experience working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
